First Thursday | May 2012

Even though the Summer days last longer in Portland, time seems to go by faster. That proved true when we realized it was time for May's First Thursday (we swear we just finished April's!) But as the saying goes, "time flies when you're having fun"!

As always we'd like to thank our friends at Widmer Brewing. 

Personal confession: I volunteer to work First Thursdays specifically for the Koi Fusion cart connivence. 

Celilo did not disappoint with their self described "bootgazing Indiecana, psych-folk dream pop" sound.

This month's we featured photography duo Jeremy Pelly and Randall Garcia's work. We love the juxtaposition of the photos with the simple, geometric shapes.

p:ear helps the homeless ages 15-24 create healthier lives and self-worth through education, art, and recreation.

Brewed by Portland's very own Lucas Jones and Sean Burke and giving a nod to the flat top can (which got replaced by the pull tab in the mid-sixties), we were instantly intrigued.  

Some of us are still figuring it out...

The other night our friend and G-Star rep, Ludvick, stopped by the store and we couldn't help but to notice how casually cool his shoelaces were!

Well, low and behold they were a pair of Danner's he picked up last time he was in our store.

First Thursday | April

It's finally Spring here in Portland, which also means it's officially First Thursday season.  For those unfamiliar with the occasion, First Thursday is an art walk located in the Pearl district held on, you guessed it, the first Thursday of every month.

This month's artist was our very own employee, Ashley Conde and her two friends, Sara Cross and Ellen Webber.  The featured photographs are a self portrait series of the individual artists depicting their personal reflections and different life stages.
